This type of helmet is an excellent example of the evolution of the knightly helmet. It is one of the first attempts to protect the face with more than just a nasal extension or a mail coif with a face flap. This helm continued on to become the complete head protection of the barrel helm. This Crusader Pot Helm with faceplate is constructed from riveted plates of 18 gauge steel. The interior of the helm is blackened and is fitted with an adjustable leather suspension liner and an adjustable leather chin strap with a buckle. Includes a wooden display stand.
